Fair Housing Act Compliance

The Fair Housing Act (Title VIII of the Civil Rights Act of 1968, as amended) prohibits discrimination in housing-related transactions, including mortgage lending, based on the following protected classes:

• Familial status (families with children under 18, pregnant persons, or persons securing custody of children under 18)

Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA)

• Good-faith exercise of any right under the Consumer Credit Protection Act

Additional California Protections

California law provides additional protections against discrimination in lending. Under the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) and the Unruh Civil Rights Act, the following additional classes are protected:

• Genetic information
• Source of income
• Military or veteran status
• Immigration status (for state law purposes)
• Primary language
